An Awesome TeamHOME
Girls on the Run of Portland Metro is fortunate to have a diverse and dynamic team of leaders, advisors and coaches. Everyone involved in this organization is passionate about helping girls grow into strong, healthy and self-confident young women who can embrace their unique gifts and talents.

Board of Directors:

  • Nancy Fleck, President, is the Production Manager at Carol Wilson Fine Arts.  Nancy is a lifelong resident of Portland and is anxiously awaiting the 8th birthday of her daughter so she can be a "girl on the run" too!

  • Shelly Field, Vice President, has a Masters in Public Administration and has worked with nonprofit and educational institutions for over 15 years, including serving as Executive Director of a youth leadership organization. She founded a Youth Volunteer Corps and has served in leadership positions on several boards. Her daughter participated in the Girls on the Run program in Chicago and Shelly is a huge advocate of our program!  She is also a member of Team Tiara and a critical member of our fundraising team.
  • Nicole Cossette, Treasurer, is the Director of Human Resources at Community Action in Washington County.    Nicole loves running and working with the girls on an individual basis!  She's also been active in putting more structure around the community service event that the girls do by teaching them to knit so we can make a blanket for Project Linus.

Nicole and Nancy brought Girls on the Run to Portland in 2007.  By inspiring a core group of approximately ten people to come to monthly planning meetings, research community needs and resources, evaluate funding opportunities, and interviewing girls about their interest in the program, they built community support for Girls on the Run.

"Running is so, so, so, so fun. We are learning and running at the same time. We talked about gossip, being healthy, being kind and lots of other stuff."
