Board of Directors:

  • Nancy Fleck, President, is the Production Manager at Carol Wilson Fine Arts.  Nancy, along with Nicole (below), have been the originators of Girls on the Run in Portland. They have inspired a core group of approximately 10 people to come to monthly planning meetings, research community needs and resources, evaluate funding opportunities, interview girls about their interest in the program, and build community support for Girls on the Run.

  • Nicole Cossette, Treasurer, has a Masters in Business Administration as well as several years of experience in human resources and financial management at Intel Corporation. She has been taking courses in nonprofit management.  Nicole and Nancy brought Girls on the Run to Portland. Throughout the past year and a half, they have reached out to hook supporters with diverse talents, and have kept them engaged through the long planning phase.

  • Shelly Field, Vice President, has a Masters in Public Administration and has worked with nonprofit and educational institutions for over 15 years, including serving as Executive Director of a youth leadership organization. She founded a Youth Volunteer Corps and has served in leadership positions on several boards. Her daughter participated in the Girls on the Run program in Chicago.

  • Beth Madden is the Seattle Operations Director for Madden Industries. She is a seasoned business leader with expertise in business metrics to assess organizational performance. Her experience will help us employ sound business principles as we build our organization.

  • Katie Roth is a Human Resources Specialist at Intel Corporation, one of the largest companies in the Portland area. She has expertise in technical writing and communications. She brings energy, enthusiasm, and deep commitments to community development.

  • Katie Skurski is a Senior Financial Analyst at Nike. Katie started the first chapter of Girls on the Run in the state of Tennessee (in Knoxville.)  She brings program administration and management experience, an MBA, a lot of determination, and a strong appreciation for the benefits of the program.

"Running is so, so, so, so fun. We are learning and running at the same time. We talked about gossip, being healthy, being kind and lots of other stuff."
