Welcome
Girls on the Run of Portland Metro is a life-changing, character development program for 3rd - 5th grade girls in the Portland Metro area. We use exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouraging role models to provide girls with the confidence they need in those critical pre-teen years. Each ninety-minute lesson combines running and walking games with discussions about various life skills, including healthy eating, leadership, setting goals and cooperation. Our 12-week programs meet twice per week for ninety minutes at various locations around the Portland Metro area. Halfway through the season, the girls from all the sites come together with their Running Buddies to one location for the practice 5K run/walk. At the end of the season, all the girls regroup with their Running Buddies and come together for the community 5K run/walk. During the season the girls also work together towards enhancing their concepts of group leadership by completing a service project of the groups choosing.
